Yet again Google pulls out all the stops with another product launch set to (apparently) rival that of Facebook. Our chief designers point of view is in agreement, Google+ looks sleeker and usability is clearer, however the rest of The Jar are remaining on the fence, unless you're an industry innovator you're unlikely to switch alliance just yet, so for the time being Facebook's boots can remain steady.
What's even more exciting is the advertising opportunities it creates for brands and their promotions, especially when you consider the possibilities when combined with Adwords, Adsense and Analytics. Of course the real test will be how the consumers engage with these brands, Google users are already used to seeing reviews and social chit-chat within their listings what with the arrival of Google Places and the indexing of social networks, if Google+ does take off some brands will have to buck up their ideas regarding customer relationship management.
Alas, Google is pleading with businesses to hold off jumping on the b(r)and wagon until a version optimised for business use is released later in the year... so, like kids waiting for that ice cream van, we can hear the music but will have to wait a little while yet before we can get our fingers on that illusive chocolate cone.
*Sigh*
